HashCheck – The file integrity check tool (MD5, SHA-1):
HashCheck is one such tool which is having unique features over traditional file integrity check software’s. The HashCheck Shell Extension makes it easy for anyone to calculate and verify checksums and hashes from Windows Explorer. The HashCheck software is directly integrated with the File Properties window. After installing the HashCheck software, there is a new tab called Checksum will be created next to the stand file properties tabs.
The size of this tool is very small, about < 100KB. After installing the HashCheck tool, you can check checksum details by right clicking on any file or a folder and go to Properties > Checksums tab. The values for CRC-32, MD4, MD5, and SHA-1 will be shown in the Checksum tab. In the same tab, there is a Save button which saves the selected file checksums into a separate list for each hashing method which you can load later on to see if any of the files have changed.
Further, a list can be created quickly from the context menu by right clicking on the file(s) and selecting “Create checksum file”.
